How To Make Water Alkaline At Home


Approximately 70% of our body is water, which translates into about 46 liters per 55 kilos of a person’s weight. 90% -94% of our blood is water.

A human adult normally removes about two gallons of water a day and therefore needs to drink about two gallons of water a day to keep everything working properly. Assuming you eat enough fruit and vegetables and get a liter from these foods, this would result in the need for additional water a day. But how many of us can say that we eat enough fruit and vegetables?. Very few.  Another problem is that many spend much of the week suffering the dehydrating effects of heating or air conditioning. Conclusion: to be on the “safe side" is recommended to drink at least two liters of water a day. And the water we drink should be alkaline.

So, would you like to know how to make alkaline water at home?

The most effective and easiest way to convert ordinary water into alkaline water is to add a tablespoon of baking soda to a 250 ml glass of water. It is important to consider that the level of sodium bicarbonate must increase the more water use by volume, the general rule is to add a tablespoon of baking soda per quart of water and increasing the level of water with baking soda as needed.


To make a large quantity of alkaline water you will need:

A five-liter container

To make alkaline water at home you must fill the container and add approximately 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Then you have to cover the container and shake well until the baking soda has dissolved in the water.

To check whether the test has worked, use a meter (or test strip) to measure the pH of the water. This should be between 8.50 and 9 points. If the level is below the required numbers, add more baking soda and shake again to force the closed container and do the test again until you  get the desired results.

In case you've managed to bring the pH level of water to a comparable figure, then you have drinking alkaline water at home. Although not proven, they say that this type of liquid is much more beneficial for health than plain water.

The following are other methods of making alkaline water:

  1. Squeeze ½ lemon juice or 1 lime in a glass of water. Drink it at room temperature.

  2. Boiling water for at least 10 minutes will turn bottled water into alkaline water. But you must drink it hot. Do not wait for it to cool because it will lose its alkalinity.

  3. Prepare vegetable juices in a blender is an ideal alternative because 98% is alkaline water and it also brings enormous amount of phytonutrients, enzymes, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, etc. The ideal vegetables are the very watery greens like cucumber, celery, zucchini, etc. You can mix them with carrots if the flavor seems too bitter.

  4. You can add sea water at a rate of 50% to bottled or filtered water and get highly recommended, healthy alkaline water.

  5. Placing a 2000 to 2500 u. Tods magnet on its negative face in a glass of neutral water and covering it with some china (plate). The negative polarity will turn water into alkaline.
